Final Year Projects and Awards

Yesterday was our last day of school.  It was bittersweet because while I was saying goodbye to all my second graders (many of whom I will not miss), I also had to say goodbye to my principal.  I will miss him a lot.  He's been my principal for the last 11 years.  We had a large all school assembly to end our day and it was quite emotional.
There were numerous awards given out yesterday as well.  Abby got a music award!  She was surprised but really does love music.  She is often humming or making up songs for me to listen to.  I was so proud of her.  She also got to bring home her research paper on chimpanzees.  I had her do her speech for me at home and she was so cute.  I love me some Abby!
Now we're on summer vacation.  I'm ready for some down time.  I'm ready to sit in my lawn chair and read a book, preferably one written by someone other than a second grader.
