Stranger Anxiety

The other day I was talking with my mom about how great the attachment process was going. Grace has adapted and attached amazingly well. I only had one concern. She didn't seem to be developing a stranger anxiety. I wasn't too concerned, after all, she was in two different orphanages and who knows where else before coming home. So she's interacted with several people and honestly, she was smiling and cooing at everyone. I was anxious for this stranger anxiety to occur, because then she was feeling secure in her family and beginning to recognize me as her constant.
Well folks, it has happened!! Last night I had a friend over and Grace screamed and continued to search the room for me. Then today while out shopping we ran into another friend and Grace again screamed and began frantically searching for me. I was so excited! So if you happen to run into us somewhere (church, store, school, etc) and Grace doesn't smile at you, please don't take it personally. My daughter is learning to attach to her mother. I am inwardly rejoicing!!

This picture just cracks me up. We were giving baths tonight and Abby is such a helper. She wanted to be right there to help bathe Grace. And Grace thought the water was so much fun. She kept trying to catch it with her hands and to drink it.
