Trunk-or-Treat fun

Today was the day we've been waiting for! Abby donned her princess outfit and we were off to collect candy! We headed to a nearby church for some trunk or treating. I was surprised to see how crowded it was. I think every child in our city decided to go to that church for the evening. We didn't last too long. Abby filled her princess basket and was losing steam so we head to my parent's house. After showing off our candy and visiting the immediate next door neighbors, it was off to our own home. We visited our immediate neighbors here and then literally poured our candy into our bowl. Her eyes were huge while she was looking over the candy. I'm sure she'll ask for more tomorrow, but she was only allowed to have one piece tonight...and yes I had a piece after she went to bed! There are perks to being a parent.

Just me 'n Abby

Tonight Abby and I had the most relaxing time. We headed to Dairy Queen for dinner, and we had NO ice cream! Can you believe it! Our DQ moved to a new location and of course, they have raised their prices, so no ice cream for us. After dinner we headed to Target. Abby got a pink slurpee and we just walked up and down the aisles. We tried hard to find something to buy, but came home empty-handed. Now Abby is playing with her doll, Susie, in the princess castle and I'm procrastinating. I should be paying bills or even correcting papers, but we're blogging instead. There will be time for all of that later tonight.

Everyone needs a princess castle

Lately Abby's been addicted to playing in her princess castle tent. It's set up in the middle of our living room and she's constantly inside it. She's taken all the pillows from the couch as well as her Dora blanket to outfit it.
I've come to the conclusion that everyone needs a princess tent! What a way of escapism filled with pillows, blankets and juicy cups. Someday I hope to have one of those tents for me!

Home Happenings

Abby and I had a delightful Sunday. We headed to church for the early service and Abby went to Little Hands. She was excited because her other friend, Abby was there today.
Then it was off to my grandparents for dinner. We had a five course meal! It was delicious. Our afternoon was spent playing in the princess house, reading the newspaper and cooking (and eating) our pretend food.
Since it's sooo windy here, we headed to the mall for some active play in the play yard. There was another little girl there who was delightful. They played together nicely and I was able to chat with her mom.
Finally, home again for dinner and haircuts. First I trimmed our dog's face, and then Abby headed to the sink for a trim of her bangs. Lately they've been in her face and covering her gorgeous eyes. Now she can see better and I can gaze into her sparkling eyes. After a few Dora computer games it was off to bed! I bought these letters for Abby's bedroom almost a year ago. I finally got around to painting them pink and lathering them with glitter. It only took two different trips to the store to find the right color and three coats of paint to make them look good. Right now the glitter is drying, so here's to hoping they'll turn out. I'm planning on putting them up above her bed tomorrow. We'll see if that actually happens...

Moving on Up!

Today was a news-flash day! I found out that my adoption agency gave out several referrals over the last week. I've moved up four spots on the list!! If I'm correct I went from #18 to #14. That's a big jump! I'm so excited for the families who received referrals. One of the families received a referral of a four and half month little girl. It was exciting to hear about an infant referral.

In other news, I have a fantastic photographer you all need to meet! Today's picture was taken by her! She's ROCKS!! Abby and I got our fall pictures taken this week and I was thrilled with all of them. If you're interested in having some pictures taken, let me know and I'll pass along her information. Here's a shout-out to my awesome photographer friend. Well done!

A House Full of Females!!

There's a lot of screaming in our home right now. Giggling and screaming and running around like crazy! But would you expect anything else from a house full of females? I'm just sitting here watching the craziness unfold.
Jessica brought Marissa over to visit and Abby conned them into playing hide and go seek. They're all having a blast!!
Meanwhile we're doing laundry, looking at pictures, and helping our neighbor catch his run away dog in the backyard. I guess you might describe this as a typical evening in our home.

Conversations from the tub

Tonight Abby was in the tub playing with her little rubber ducks, Dora figurines, cups and fish. I was drying my hair and only half listening to her. You know the routine, you answer "uh-huh" every once in a while just so that she knows you're still there.
Well, tonight was cute. I actually listened to her play "talk". She was lining up her toys and telling me who they represented. She said, "Here's mommy, Abby, Nana, Papa and Jesus. That's our family."
It rocks my world that my daughter knows that Jesus (and everyone else listed) is a part of her family. What a blessing!
