Beach Fun

It's been such a hot summer and I'm so glad that we live close to Lake Michigan.  The beach is awesome in such hot weather.  We headed out late morning and met some friends.  It wasn't crowded and we did encounter a few raindrops, but we waited it out and the sun came out.  The waves were awesome and just perfect for the kids.  Abby jumped right in and attacked the waves with laughter.  Grace on the other hand, didn't even want to wade in the water.  She was content to play around in the sand and to walk the edges of the water.

 Grace wore her life jacket the whole time, but didn't enjoy the water.  I took her in with me and she giggled a little, but wanted right out.  She just wanted the sand.

 Look!  Grace without the life jacket and with one foot in her sand bucket.  Don't you also love how she's lost the bottom of her swim suit?  She had a saggy butt and it was filled with sand so we just took it off. 
We stayed at the beach for several hours and enjoyed a picnic lunch.  It turned out to be a beautiful day.  We can't wait to hit the beach again!
