It's hard to slow down

Today officially started my Christmas vacation break. I tried to start it slowly. I tried to stay in bed until 7am, but the girls had other plans and soon I had two giggling sisters crawling all over me. After a feast of pancakes, I grabbed my coffee and sat down to watch a little Good Morning America. By 8:30 am my neighbors came over with gifts for the girls. I wasn't even out of my pj's yet and the house was a mess. Oh well, I hope they didn't look too close.
We finally got dressed and when I asked Abby to grab her socks and shoes before we went to Meijer, she laughed and told me that she didn't have any clean socks in her drawer. After double checking, I realized she was right! I guess it's time to do some laundry! So after a quick trip for some groceries, I did 7 loads of laundry! But now we're set for socks. In the middle of our laundry, Abby and I decided to make some sugar cut out cookies. I had found a great recipe for the icing on Pinterest that we thought we would try so we made about 4 dozen cookies. While waiting for them to cool, we played Crazy 8's. Abby won, she's getting so good at cards!

This is how the cookies turned out. They're all very pretty and Abby's loves eating them. I wonder if we'll have any left to share with others. After cookies, it was time for dinner. Our friend Jessie came over for chicken cordon bleu, baked potatoes and buttered corn. Oh, and in the middle of all these activities, I'm trying to potty-train Grace. She has yet to go in the potty. So far the count is: potty-0, panties-3. Oh well, we'll try again tomorrow. Maybe she's just not ready.

I can't believe I got all those things done today. It's definitely hard for me to slow down when I'm constantly living in go-go-go mode. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a little more relaxation.
