What are you doing right now?
We're sitting in laundry baskets with our leapsters. These girls love to sit in the baskets. Grace had her electronic toy that plays music so Abby grabbed her leapster and jumped into her basket. Now, both of these baskets are supposed to have dirty clothes in them. I did wonder where the clothes went, and later discovered them on the floor of the laundry room in a big pile. I guess I've got the clothes right where I need them and the girls are contained and happy. :)Monday, April 26, 2010
Swimming Class
Today Abby started her second set of swimming lessons. She was excited, but also a little nervous because it was a new class with new kids and a new teacher. She didn't need to worry, because she loved it. She told me all about it when I got home. The funny part came when I talked with my mom about how it went.
Apparently Abby decided to put her swimming suit on at home before going to class. She took her swimming bag and went into the bathroom. She came out with her suit on and her clothes on over it. She was ready!
So she went to the locker room, got ready for the pool, jumped in the pool, made motor boat noises in the water, etc. Then my mom came back to pick her up. She ran into the shower and took off her bathing suit only to discover that she had left her panties on!! They were left on under her suit! I was laughing so hard when I heard this. The thing is, Abby loves to swim and wears her swimsuit almost every day in the summer. She knows how to get dressed, but in all her excitement, she must have forgotten how important it was to take the underwear off before putting on the bathing suit.

Sunday Afternoon...A Day of Rest
We love Sunday afternoons! We totally take it as it's intended to be, a day of rest. We do nothing but just enjoy being family together. We read the newspaper, play with the princess tent, take naps, watch the Tigers, have snacks, etc. I love spending this time with my girls.I took Abby's picture because she's so ready for summer. Even though it was raining this afternoon and there was no venturing outside, she still wanted to wear her watermelon shirt and her flower skirt. She's wishing and wishing and wishing for summer. I only have 34 more days of school and then we're home for the summer!
Grace giggles and giggles and giggles. She was such a happy baby today!!Thursday, April 22, 2010
She passed!
Yep, this girl is on her way to kindergarten next year!! Today was kindergarten testing at school and Abby passed with flying colors. I honestly don't know who was more nervous, me or her. I mean, every parent thinks their child is the smartest, cutest, most adorable child on the planet and I am no exception. I happen to think my girls are the best ever. But when it comes to having others evaluate your child, you begin to question your thoughts. Is she really ready? Will she do well? How does she compare to others? Will she be low? Well, the results are in and she did well and will continue to do well in kindergarten next year! Can count to 100--check!
Can name at least 5 colors--ah, yeah! check!
Can write first and last name--of course! check!
Can name and write all 26 letters--(and sounds!!) check!
Can name body parts--check!
Can identify shapes--check!
Can hop on one foot--check!
Watch out kindergarten, Abby is coming your way!!

Cheesy, I know...
but I absolutely love it when my girls wear matching dresses. I think they are so cute! Abby loves to dress like Grace and Grace doesn't have a clue, so I'm planning on having them match for as long as I can. You will see a lot of matching dress pictures, because I have several for the summer season.
These dress were gifts from Grandpa Mike and Grandma Barb. There were matcing dresses, socks and even hair bows! Ahhh...all feminine here.

You know the feeling....
the one you get when you feel like you've failed as a mom. Today I had to take Abby to Urgent Care with an ear infection and what might be the start of strep throat. She's had a fever since Tuesday night, but it would come and go. One morning she has a fever of 101.5, that afternoon it's gone. It went on day after day. There were no other symptoms. I asked about her throat, I asked about her head, I asked about her stomach. No other symptoms. Today she woke herself up from her nap screaming about her ear. Yep, her ear. Since her doctor's office closed at noon on Saturday, it was off to Urgent Care. We had the nicest doctor and we were home within the hour with medicine. Yep, I've learned something. Next time ask about the ear.
This was Abby this morning. Yeah, it doesn't look like she has a really bad ear infection, does it? Anyway, don't you just love the orange and blue H. This girl loves her Hope College and she made this one all on her own without any help or incentive. :)
