Abby's funny joke

If you've been around our house at all over the last year or two, you've probably been the recipient of Abby's knock knock jokes. For a while it was the same joke told over and over and over. After a while she was only allowed to tell the joke one time a day. Amazingly it's remained the same joke. It's not funny, but when she tells it over and over, you sometimes just need to laugh at her silliness.
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
ba-la-tions
balations who?
ba-la-tions 'odi.
Yeah, who can understand the mind of a three year old? Sometimes you just need to laugh at the absurdity of it.

Lake Michigan Fun

Who would have thought that on October 12th we would head for a cookout? We headed to the beach this afternoon for some fun in the sun. It was almost 80 degrees, so what's better than a grilled hamburger or brat next to the channel? It was beautiful, there were boats going through the channel, there were lots of families, and there was sand between our toes. We didn't stay for the sunset. Apparently the state park "powers-that-be" decided to close the restrooms for the season. So we headed home. Abby loved playing frisbee with Papa and Naywin. She got pretty good after a few throws. Here she is with Nana, giving everyone a thumbs up on her hamburger. It was a beautiful evening at the lake.

Oh, What a Night!

Yeah.
For those who have spent the last two nights with me. You know EXACTLY what I'm struggling with.
Yeah.
So...my amazing neighbor brought over the remedy...drumroll please.... People magazine, peanuts, an orange mum plant, two precious notes, and.... wine coolers!! Yeah!
Needless to say, I'm reading, eating and drinking. Oh, what a night!
For those of you who only check the blog for an update on Abby, I've included a few pictures of our day. We also went to our parent-tot swimming class. The instructor is so nice! She told me that Abby is ready for the next class. She really is doing well. I'm going to check the schedule and see when the next one starts. She loves the water.

It was such a great afternoon. The weather was beautiful and the sky was so blue. We played outside most of the afternoon. Indian summers are amazing. Tomorrow supposed to be just as nice. I'm sure we'll spend most of it outside.

Here are Abby and Jake. They were inseparable all afternoon. They played SO nicely! It was fun to watch. Christina brought out some lemonade for them and they kept saying "Cheers!" and clinking their cups together. What a couple!

Tired, so tired...

Tired, so tired.....
All you get tonight is a new picture of Abby....
Actually, it's a picture from last Saturday morning when we didn't get dressed until 11:45!
Oh, one piece of news....we moved up on the adoption list. Two other families accepted referrals of girls, so we went from #20 to #18. slowly, but surely, my daughter WILL come home.

She's back!

My Abby has come back home!

My house was so lonely without her.

She headed down to visit my sister and her family. My parents took her down yesterday after church. They needed to babysit Lauren, Julia and Sophie on Monday so they thought it might be fun to take Abby down to play with her cousins. She had a great time and when she came home she talked nonstop about all the fun she had with the girls. I, of course, called over and over just to hear how things were going. It was amazingly quiet in the house without her. I was able to head to the movies with friends and then out to dinner on Sunday, but I didn't sleep as well. It was relaxing, but I'm much more content with my baby home! :)

Pumpkinfest Fun

Abby and I live in the best small town in America! We headed downtown Friday night for activities and then headed back there on Saturday afternoon. Misha, Emily, Christina, Trisha, Ellie and the Creevy's all joined us there. We started at the pumpkin run. Abby could run through the park to pick up a pumpkin. She couldn't decide which one to grab and went between quite a few before settling on a great little round one. Then it was off to the sawdust search. The kids could search through sawdust for coins. Abby found a penny and decided she was done, which was a good thing because she quickly got a bloody nose. I'm beginning to think she might be allergic to hay!

Then it was off to the Critter Barn animals. This was the highlight of the evening for Abby. She loved the animals. There were bunnies, donkeys, goats, sheep, etc. She reached out to every single one and held a little bunny for quite a while. Then it was home for pizza and fun with our friends.

We were hopping on Saturday too! We headed off to our parent-tot swimming class and then downtown for the parade. My nephew was on a float so we waved and waved. There was candy to catch, family and friends to sit with, and funny floats to laugh at. What a great parade! Then it was off to mom and dad's for a birthday dinner. We were celebrating dad's birthday. It was a scrumptious meal complete with dessert and present giving. Dad got a new cordless drill and seemed quite excited.

What a great weekend!
